Alexander Balatsky is a Professor of Theoretical Physics at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, affiliated with the Department of PHYSICS OF LIGHT AND MATTER. He was installed as a professor on November 15, 2013, during KTH's academic ceremony at City Hall.
His research focuses on understanding and manipulating the phases and states of condensed matter systems at the atomic scale. Key areas include nanotechnology, quantum materials, and the development of advanced scanning probe techniques for atomic-level control of matter properties. His work bridges theoretical physics with experimental advancements in nanoscale engineering.
