Alexander A. Kiselev is the William T. Laprade Distinguished Professor of Mathematics at Duke University, affiliated with the Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. His research focuses on mathematical fluid mechanics, partial differential equations (PDEs), and their applications in biology and physics. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the California Institute of Technology (1996) and a B.S. in Physics from St. Petersburg State University (1992). Key roles include managing editor of the Duke Mathematical Journal and principal investigator on NSF grants.
- Research Interests: Fluid dynamics, chemotaxis, mixing processes, spectral theory, and reaction-diffusion systems.
- Grants: Multiple NSF grants (2023–2026, 2021–2026, 2020–2025) supporting research on fluid mechanics and PDEs.
- Awards: Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship (2000), Guggenheim Fellowship (2016), and William T. Laprade Distinguished Professorship (2018).
- Professional Activities: Editorial roles, conference organization, and service to the mathematics community.
His work bridges theoretical analysis and real-world phenomena, with contributions to understanding singularities in fluid equations and biological reaction enhancement through chemotaxis.
