Dr. Alexa Kelly is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anatomy at Campbell University's College of Osteopathic Medicine. She holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of North Texas Health Science Center and a B.Sc. in Anthropology from Florida State University. Prior to her Ph.D., she worked as an archaeological conservator at the Florida Department of State. Her research focuses on climatic adaptation and human evolutionary anatomy, particularly investigating how environmental and metabolic factors influence nasal anatomy. She employs 3D geometric morphometric methods and global skeletal datasets to study craniofacial variation and metabolic demand estimation. Dr. Kelly has published on forensic osteology, skeletal reconstruction techniques, and the interplay of climate and biology in human evolution.
Her teaching experience includes anatomy instruction at Texas College of Medicine, Tarrant County College, and Texas A&M School of Dentistry. She is affiliated with the Leon Levine Hall of Medical Science, Room 414. Her work bridges archaeological methods with modern biomedical research, emphasizing both traditional and digital osteological techniques. Current projects explore methodological advancements in skeletal analysis and the application of 3D technologies to anthropological studies.
