Alex Woodgate-Jones

Dr. Alex Woodgate-Jones is a Senior Lecturer & Senior Teaching Fellow at the Southampton Education School, University of Southampton. She serves as Associate Programme Director for the BSc in Education Studies, teaches on the Primary PGCE programme focusing on pedagogy, and contributes to Master's in Education programmes. Her research explores modern foreign language teaching in primary schools, teacher professionalism, and children's emotional wellbeing. She has reviewed for journals like Teaching and Teacher Education and conducted TDA-funded projects on teacher training.

Education: Holds a PhD in primary MFL education, MA, and SFHEA accreditation. Previously taught in the Basque Country and UK primary schools as a class teacher and literacy coordinator.

Research Interests: Primary education pedagogy, teacher voice in policy implementation, emotional wellbeing promotion, intercultural understanding in language teaching, and behavior management strategies. Active member of the Centre for Research in Inclusion (CRI).

Teaching Contributions: Leads courses on educational research methodologies, master's-level writing, inclusion strategies, and learning theory applications. Supervises education studies across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
