Dr. Alex Van Huynh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at DeSales University's College of Sciences. He holds a B.S. in Biology from Moravian College and a Ph.D. in Biology from Lehigh University, joining DeSales in 2020. His research focuses on chemical ecology, particularly the role of preen oils in songbird communication and behavior.

Dr. Huynh teaches Introductory Biology, Ecology, and Field Biology courses. His work combines field and laboratory studies to explore how chemical compounds mediate ecological interactions and evolutionary processes across South America, Europe, and the United States. Current projects examine avian olfactory communication and its behavioral implications.
Outside academia, he resides in the Lehigh Valley with his family and engages in cooking, reading, and running.
