Stomper's research explores interactions between the financial system and the broader economy, including financial distress effects on small firms, financial structure impacts on non-financial industries, and bank loan market dynamics. He also investigates risks tied to weather, climate change, and policy frameworks for carbon pricing and public-sector financial economics.
He contributes to academic literature in journals like Management Science, Review of Financial Studies, and PNAS, with themes spanning financial economics, asset pricing, and climate finance. His work increasingly emphasizes climate adaptation strategies and financial engineering opportunities.
Stomper advises students in HU's extracurricular Portfolio Management Program (sponsored by ZZ Vermögensverwaltung) and teaches Financial Markets, Finance Theory, and PhD-level topics in climate finance. His teaching integrates academic insights, such as Brandt et al.'s optimization algorithms for equity portfolios.
He supports policy initiatives, including mobilizing investments for carbon emission reductions in German residential real estate, collaborating with government and private institutions. His expertise bridges financial architecture, risk management, and climate policy.
