Alex Göbel is a Lecturer in Psycholinguistics and Semantics at the University of Manchester. He holds a PhD from the Linguistics Department at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where his dissertation focused on Focus-sensitivity and presupposition triggers under Lyn Frazier. Previously, he held postdoctoral positions at Princeton University and McGill University. His research interests include psycholinguistics, semantics/pragmatics, and discourse processing, with a focus on presuppositions, discourse structure, and intonation. He completed his BA and MA in German Linguistics at the University of Tübingen, working under Britta Stolterfoht on experimental methods in adverbial interpretation. Recent work involves cross-linguistic studies of presupposition accommodation and collaborative projects on Vietnamese reflexives. Grants include a 2020 Hoa Sen University award to investigate context requirements across languages.
