Alex Felice is a postdoctoral researcher at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) affiliated with the MOBI - Electromobility Research Centre and the Department of Electrical Engineering and Power Electronics. His research focuses on renewable energy systems, energy storage, and sustainable energy policies. He contributed to the EU-funded RENAISSANCE project (2019-2022), investigating energy communities in rural development. Felice has organized workshops on energy community models and published extensively on topics like battery management for renewable energy systems and phasing out diesel generators in hospitals. His work integrates technical, economic, and environmental analyses to address energy transition challenges.
- Primary Affiliations: VUB (MOBI Centre), Electrical Engineering Department
- Key Projects: RENAISSANCE (EU H2020), Lacor Hospital Energy Community Study
Research interests emphasize lifecycle assessments of energy systems, renewable integration in healthcare, and community-driven energy solutions. He has developed optimization models for future energy systems and collaborated on datasets like Lacor Hospital's power data (Zenodo, 2022). Recent work includes presenting at conferences on energy flexibility frameworks and hosting workshops on energy justice in rural areas.
Led activities include organizing the COMPILE Winter School (2021) and H2020 workshops in Firenze and St. Mary's Hospital (2022). His publications span peer-reviewed journals (e.g., Nature Sustainability, Energies) and conference proceedings, with a focus on practical implementation of renewable energy systems.
