Professor Alex Clark is a Professor of Mathematics and Dean for International at the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Queen Mary University of London. He holds a PhD from Auburn University and a Harvard undergraduate degree. Previously, he was Head of the Department of Mathematics at the University of Leicester and an Associate Professor at the University of North Texas. His research focuses on dynamical systems, topology, tiling spaces, and matchbox manifolds, with notable contributions on aperiodic tilings like Penrose patterns and their topological properties. He has led interdisciplinary projects, including collaborations on climate finance and sustainable innovation. His work has been supported by grants such as the Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship (2020–2022). He is affiliated with the Centre for Complex Systems and actively contributes to research on energy policy, environmental economics, and mathematical modeling.
- Education: PhD in Mathematics (Auburn University), Harvard University undergraduate.
- Research Interests: Dynamical systems, topology, aperiodic tilings, and interdisciplinary applications in energy and sustainability.
His recent publications span pure mathematics (e.g., minimal sets, Cantor systems) and applied fields like green economic growth and climate policy. He has advised on grants addressing decarbonization strategies and sustainable finance mechanisms.
