Alex Campbell serves as an Associate Lecturer in Creative Writing at Bath Spa University, affiliated with the School of Writing, Publishing and the Humanities and the Department of Writing. She brings over a decade of industry experience from the publishing world to her academic role, having worked with major publishers including Nosy Crow and Hot Key Books.
Her educational background includes a BA (Hons) in English and European Literature alongside a CAM Certificate in Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising, and Direct Marketing. As a professional member of both the Authors' Licensing and Collecting Society and the PLR Society of Authors, she maintains strong industry connections.
Specializing in Creative Writing with emphasis on Writing for Young People and Children's Literature, Campbell operates under two author identities: publishing children's books as Alex Cotter and young adult fiction as Alex Campbell. Her writing career demonstrates significant industry recognition including a CILIP Carnegie Medal nomination.
Her recent publications reveal a consistent focus on coming-of-age narratives across age groups, with particular attention to family relationships and adventure themes. The progression from YA fiction to children's literature shows strategic career development across the writing spectrum.
