Alex C. Yen serves as Associate Professor of Accounting and Chair of the Accounting & Taxation Department at Stonehill College's Meehan School of Business since 2017. Previously held academic positions at Boston College (Visiting Assistant Professor), College of the Holy Cross, and Suffolk University (Assistant Professor roles).
Education:
- B.A. in Accounting, Michigan State University
- M.B.A. in Finance, University of Rochester
- Ph.D. in Accounting, University of Texas at Austin
Professor Yen's research specializes in financial reporting and auditing using behavioral/experimental methodologies, with recent focus on linguistic features of accounting narratives including earnings press releases and management letters. His work examines how qualitative disclosures complement quantitative financial data.
Awards & Recognition:
- Best Paper Award, American Accounting Association Southeast Region Meeting (2017)
Actively engaged in professional service as Auditing Section Regional Coordinator for the Northeast Region of the American Accounting Association and member of the Massachusetts Society of CPAs. Currently serves as treasurer for a nonprofit organization. Prior to academia, accumulated eight years of assurance practice experience at Price Waterhouse.
Teaches Managerial Accounting, Advanced Accounting, and Auditing courses while leading departmental initiatives through his chairmanship.
