Alessandro Zambelli is a Senior Lecturer in Architectural Design at the University of Melbourne's Melbourne School of Design. He holds a PhD from the Bartlett, UCL, and previously served as Associate Professor and research co-lead at the Portsmouth School of Architecture (UK). His work bridges architecture with archaeology, anthropology, and urban studies, focusing on the Commons and urban green spaces. He co-led the AHRA 2023 conference on Situated Ecologies of Care and is a managing editor of Architecture and Culture journal.

Research interests include the ethical dimensions of design, First Nations land stewardship in Australia, and the intersection of architecture with archaeology through drawing practices. His recent publications include co-editing English Urban Commons (2024) and a Special Issue of the Journal of Architecture (2023).
