Dr. Alessandro Gardi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Khalifa University (UAE), specializing in aerospace cyber-physical systems, trajectory optimization, and intelligent health management for autonomous vehicles. His work integrates physics-informed AI, multi-objective optimization, and cyber-resilience methodologies to advance UAS, satellites, and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) systems.
- PhD in Aerospace Engineering from RMIT University (2017)
- MSc in Aeronautical Engineering from Polytechnic University of Milan (2011)
- BEng in Aerospace Engineering from Polytechnic University of Milan (2007)
His research focuses on:
- Multi-objective and multi-phase trajectory optimization for air/space platforms
- Physics-informed AI and metaheuristics for vehicle design
- Health monitoring and cyber-resilience in autonomous systems
- Wake turbulence modeling for UAM safety
Dr. Gardi has contributed to 10+ industry/government-funded projects, including hybrid optimization algorithms for GNC systems and turbulence avoidance frameworks in urban environments. He has supervised over 100 undergraduate and postgraduate projects, including 16 PhD/MRes candidates.
