Alessandra Talamo

Alessandra Talamo is a Full Professor in the Department of Social and Developmental Psychology at Sapienza University of Rome, where she has served as Head of Department since 2015. She teaches Technological Innovation and Organizational Processes and has held leadership positions including Director of the Master Degree in User Experience (2012) and coordinator of the Interaction Design section of the Interdisciplinary Lab 'ICT4People' at CNIT. Her scholarly contributions span over three decades with extensive publications in social psychology, organizational behavior, and digital environments.

Professor Talamo's research focuses on social ergonomics applied to educational and organizational cooperation in digital and virtual environments. Her work bridges theoretical psychology with practical applications in interaction design, user experience, and organizational innovation. She has pioneered research on virtual reality applications for psychological well-being, AI-based decision support systems, and psychosocial interventions for refugees and displaced populations. Her methodological approach integrates activity theory with design thinking to address complex socio-technical challenges in both organizational and community contexts.

Analysis of her recent publications (2021-2025) reveals a strong focus on virtual reality applications for mental health, AI-human interaction in decision-making processes, and psychosocial resilience in crisis situations. She has secured significant research funding for projects examining digital environments, organizational innovation, and psychosocial interventions in crisis situations, with particular emphasis on migration and displacement contexts.

Professor Talamo co-founded the network CODESIGN for connecting professionals and academics in Interaction Design practice and Social Innovation (2011) and has been a member of the European Network of Living Labs ENOLL. Her interdisciplinary approach connects academic research with industry applications through the Jointlab IDEaCT (Interaction Design and Communication Technologies) which focuses on industry-academic collaboration in human-computer interaction and organizational design.
