Alessandra Gaia is a Senior Research Fellow in Survey Methodology at the Centre for Longitudinal Studies (CLS), part of the UCL Social Research Institute. She holds concurrent roles as General Secretary of the European Survey Research Association and Associate Editor of the journal Survey Research Methods. Her work focuses on optimizing survey response strategies, ethical data collection practices, and integrating biological sampling into social research.
She maintains academic affiliations with multiple institutions, including unpaid honorary positions at the University of Essex (Institute for Social and Economic Research) and previously held roles at the University of Milano-Bicocca and City, University of London. Her professional certifications include National Scientific Accreditation for associate professorship in general sociology from Italy (2022-2032).
Research interests span innovative survey techniques, consent frameworks for data linkage, and methodological challenges in longitudinal studies. She contributes to major research infrastructures like Understanding Society and EUROMOD while advocating for ethical standards in sociological research.
