Alenka Černelič Krošelj serves as a Lecturer in Ethnology at the Faculty of Tourism, University of Maribor. She holds significant leadership positions including Chair of the Slovene Ethnological Society, Vice Chair of ICOM Slovenia and Museum Society Slovenia, and Chair of RA ICOM SEE since 2019. Previously, she directed the Posavje Museum Brežice from 2014 to 2023.
Her research spans cultural heritage, museology, and cultural tourism with emphasis on sustainable development. She investigates holistic heritage renovation, museum roles in contemporary society, and intangible heritage preservation through interdisciplinary frameworks that connect cultural assets with tourism and regional planning. Her work consistently bridges theoretical foundations with practical implementation.
Recent publications (2020) demonstrate applied research addressing urgent sector challenges: museum resilience during the pandemic, transboundary heritage collaboration along the Sava River, and tourism integration models for cultural institutions. These works reflect her commitment to practical solutions for heritage management and sustainable development.
She actively supervises graduate students, incorporating real-world case studies and guest experts into her teaching. Her professional trajectory includes EU-funded projects and leadership in major cultural organizations, positioning her at the intersection of academic research and heritage practice.
