Aleksi Ojala is a Lecturer in Music Didactics at the Department of Educational Sciences, Faculty of Education, University of Helsinki, and affiliated with the Institute of Sustainability Science (HELSUS). As a researcher, textbook author, songwriter, and artist, his work focuses on musical agency, blended learning, and sustainability education through the arts. He serves on the committee for the ISME Popular Music Education Interest Group.

His research explores creative music production as a tool for sustainability education and has been presented at international conferences like the ISME Research Commission Seminar. Current projects include:

As a Principal Investigator, Ojala leads projects analyzing human-nonhuman relationships through music education and has conducted academic visits at the University of Iceland. His work bridges popular music education, ecosocial art pedagogy, and digital learning environments.
