Aleksandra Rudzāte serves as a Researcher and Ph.D. student in the Department of Paediatrics at Rīga Stradiņš University. Her primary focus is on pediatric emergency medicine, particularly in the area of fever management and diagnostic strategies for serious bacterial infections in children.
Dr. Rudzāte's research interests center around pediatric emergency care, fever management in children, diagnostic biomarkers (including procalcitonin and white blood cell count), and antibiotic stewardship. Her work particularly emphasizes improving diagnostic accuracy for serious bacterial infections while reducing unnecessary antibiotic use in pediatric emergency settings.
Her publication record demonstrates a strong focus on observational studies in pediatric emergency medicine, with particular expertise in febrile children, serious bacterial infections, and diagnostic strategies. Recent work includes multicenter European studies examining procalcitonin use and white blood cell count value in predicting serious infections. She has also contributed to research on MIS-C genetics and validation of prediction models for pneumonia in immunocompromised children.
Dr. Rudzāte leads a significant research project titled Characteristics of children with fever, analysis of evolving diagnostic and treatment strategies and outcomes in hospital emergency care during the periods of 2017-2018 and 2023-2024 and serves as an expert on the EU-funded DIAMONDS project focused on RNA-based diagnosis of febrile illness. She has also contributed to the Improvement of the management process and study content modernisation project at Rīga Stradiņš University.
