Aleksandar Stevanovic

Aleksandar Stevanovic is an Associate Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, part of the Swanson School of Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. He leads the PITTS Lab, focusing on adaptive traffic operations, intelligent transportation systems, and novel infrastructure solutions for extraterrestrial environments.

His research spans traffic signal control, multimodal transportation, urban air mobility, and transportation simulation modeling. The lab collaborates with local entities like the City of Pittsburgh and PennDOT, regional agencies such as NJDOT, and international organizations including the European Cooperation in Science and Technology and Roads and Maritime Services (Australia).

PITTS Lab, a state-of-the-art facility, develops advanced methods for transportation control and monitoring. Key projects include Adaptive Traffic Signal Control (ATSC) systems and studies on transportation adaptiveness in response to evolving societal and technological demands.
