Alekos Theologis

Dr. Alekos Theologis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine. He specializes in treating complex spinal disorders across adult and pediatric populations, including cervical myelopathy, adult scoliosis, lumbar stenosis, and revision surgeries for failed spinal implants. His clinical work is complemented by biomechanical research, perioperative risk assessment, and global health initiatives, particularly through his fellowship training in Ghana.

• Education: BS in Biological Sciences and Chemistry from Stanford University (2007), MD from UCSF (2011), Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at UCSF (2017) including Chief Resident role, and Spine Surgery Fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis (2018).

His research focuses on spinal reconstructive surgery, complication management, and health policy. Recent publications in Spine Deformity and Eur Spine J highlight innovations in multi-rod constructs, osteotomy techniques, and radiographic analysis for spinal alignment. He also contributes to global health education and medical trainee development through collaborative fellowships.
