Alekhya Mandali

Dr Alekhya Mandali is a Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of Sheffield, and affiliated with the Interdisciplinary Centre for the Social Sciences (ICOSS). She holds a PhD in Computational Neuroscience, an MTech in Clinical Engineering, and a BTech in Biomedical Engineering. Her research focuses on two core themes: identifying neural/computational markers of impulsivity, compulsivity, and mood disorders, and developing neuromodulation-based interventions to target these markers. She employs techniques such as transcranial magnetic/electrical stimulation (TMS/tes), EEG, and computational modeling.

**Research Themes:**

• Diagnostic Theme: Identifying behavioral, neural, and computational markers in health and disease.
• Neuro-modulation Theme: Using multi-modal stimulation to modulate neural activity in conditions like addiction and OCD.

**Teaching:** She teaches PSY6039 (Mathematical Modelling and Research Skills) and supervises MSc and PhD projects. She co-ordinates the department's research seminars.

**Lab Leadership:** Dr Mandali heads the Cognitive Computational Neuropsychiatry (CCnP) lab, which explores mechanism-based solutions for mental health disorders. The lab integrates stimulation techniques with computational models to understand brain networks.

**PhD Opportunities:** She supervises funded PhD projects (e.g., on alcohol use disorder) and encourages applications in her research areas.
