معرفی
Dr. Alejandro Pieters is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Hohenheim, affiliated with the Department of Management of Crop Water Stress in the Tropics and Subtropics under the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences. His research focuses on crop stress physiology, particularly rice and wheat responses to phosphorus nutrition, temperature, and water deficits. He holds a PD (Privatdozent) in Biological Sciences from the University of Nottingham/Rothamsted (1999) and previously worked at the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (2000–2017).
Research Interests:
- Plant stress biology under drought, salinity, and nutrient deficiency
- Mechanisms of photosynthesis regulation in crops
- Genetic improvement of rice for stress tolerance
- Water use efficiency in tropical crops
Recent work emphasizes crop water stress dynamics, transpiration measurement systems, and antioxidant responses to abiotic stress. His publications span 1997–2024, covering topics like rice physiology, onion salt tolerance, and brassinosteroid-mediated stress mitigation.
Labs/Teams: Active in the Hans-Ruthenberg-Institute for Tropical Agricultural Sciences, collaborating on interdisciplinary projects addressing global agricultural challenges.
