Alejandro Pazos Sierra

Alejandro Pazos Sierra is a full professor at the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, University of A Coruña (UDC), where he has held a faculty position since 1999. He currently serves as Director of the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology at UDC and founded the RNASA-IMEDIR (Artificial Neural Networks and Adaptive Systems - Medical Informatics and Diagnostic Imaging and Radiology) research group in 1992, which is affiliated with INIBIC (Biomedical Research Institute of A Coruña) and CITIC (Information and Communications Technology Research Center). His academic background includes two PhDs: in Medicine (Complutense University of Madrid) and Computer Engineering (Polytechnic University of Madrid).

His research spans interdisciplinary domains at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Informatics, Neuroscience, and Healthcare Technology. Notably, he has authored over 150 JCR-indexed articles, 28 patents, and led more than 50 public-funded research projects. His work emphasizes applications in medical imaging, bioinformatics, and assistive technology for autism and Alzheimer's disease.
