Alejandro Lara Doña is a predoctoral researcher at the University of Cádiz, Department of Automation, Electronics, Architecture and Computer Networks Engineering. He is affiliated with the Institute for Research and Innovation in Biomedical Sciences (INiBICA) and collaborates with the TIC212 Bioengineering, Automation and Robotics research group.
Education:
- PhD in Progress, University of Cádiz (2025)
- Master's in Systems and Computer Engineering Research
- Industrial Electronic Engineering Degree
Research Focus: His work combines biomedical engineering and automation to develop systems for pain assessment in rodents (via pupillometry), COPD management using AI/sensors, and smart oxygen therapy devices. Projects include telemonitoring air quality for COPD patients and automated pupil analysis for locus coeruleus activity.
Publications: Recent work highlights AI-driven physiological monitoring, neural network applications in pain research, and IoT-based respiratory support systems. His 2025 thesis establishes a novel link between pupillary response analysis and chronic pain mechanisms.
Industrial Experience: Former R&D&I laboratory technician and industrialization team member at Terrasun Holographic Institute.
