Alejandro F. Botta is an Associate Professor of Hebrew Bible at Boston University's School of Theology (STH). He holds a PhD in History of the Jewish People from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, alongside advanced degrees from institutions in Madrid, Germany, and Buenos Aires. His research bridges ancient Near Eastern studies, biblical exegesis, and Latin American hermeneutics. Specializing in the Elephantine papyri, Aramaic-Demotic legal traditions, and Book of Chronicles, his work highlights interdisciplinary approaches to textual analysis and cultural context.
His teaching focuses on Hebrew Bible introduction, prophetic literature, and Latin American biblical interpretation. Over 50 publications include monographs like The Aramaic and Egyptian Legal Traditions at Elephantine and co-edited volumes exploring liberation hermeneutics.
