University of Michigan-Ann Arborمعرفی
Alejandro Bravo-Doddoli is a Postdoctoral Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan's Department of Mathematics, part of the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA). He holds a Ph.D. from the University of California Santa Cruz and has taught multiple courses, including Differential Equations and the Lab of Geometry at Michigan (LoG(M)). His research focuses on sub-Riemannian geometry, non-holonomic mechanics, and dynamics in Carnot groups, with a particular emphasis on metric lines and geodesic flows.
Education: Ph.D. in Mathematics (UCSC, 2023), M.S. (UNAM, Mexico, 2016), B.S. (UNAM, Mexico, 2014). Awards include the B. Alan Taylor Award for Outstanding Postdoctoral Teaching (2024-2025) and recognition for his bachelor's thesis from the Mexican Mathematical Society.
Research Interests: Interaction between geometry and mechanical systems, non-integrable distributions, sub-Riemannian geodesics in Carnot groups, and the n-trailer system. He mentors undergraduate research projects in LoG(M) and REU programs, focusing on topics like parametric resonance and articulated vehicle dynamics.
Teaching and Service: Director of LoG(M), instructor for MATH 316 and MATH 440, and former teaching assistant at UCSC and UNAM. He emphasizes inclusive teaching practices, informed by training programs like UCSC’s Center for Innovations in Teaching and Learning.
Labs/Teams: Leads the LoG(M) initiative, collaborating on projects such as the n-trailer vehicle dynamics and parametric resonance analysis.
