Alejandro Arango is a Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at Gonzaga University since 2018. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from Vanderbilt University and a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship at Tennessee State University. His work focuses on the social dimensions of perception, social epistemology, and Latinx identities. Key research areas include the perceptual basis of social identities, critiques of race/ethnicity frameworks for Latinidad, and enactivist theories of perception.

Research emphasizes how sensory perception underpins social interactions and identity recognition. Current projects explore Afro-Latinx inclusion within Latinidad frameworks and the role of context in perceptual practices. He co-edited New Perspectives on the Ontology of Social Identities (2024) and has published in Journal of Social Philosophy, Southern Journal of Philosophy, and Behavior Analysis in Practice.
Awards include the prestigious Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship. Teaching interests span philosophy pedagogy, ethics, and phenomenology. His work bridges philosophical theory with sociopolitical realities, emphasizing the humanities' societal relevance.
