Dr. Alecia Jackson serves as a Professor in the Department of Leadership and Educational Studies within the Reich College of Education at Appalachian State University. She also holds an affiliation with the Gender, Women’s, and Sexuality Studies program.
Her research integrates feminist, poststructural, and posthuman theories to examine power/knowledge, language, materiality, and subjectivity. Key topics include deconstructions of voice and method, analyses of resistance and agency in girls' and women's lives, and qualitative inquiry in the "posts." She focuses on animating philosophical frameworks to produce new knowledge, with current projects centered on the ontological turn.
Dr. Jackson's recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on theoretical innovation in qualitative research. Her co-authored works, such as the second edition of "Thinking with Theory in Qualitative Research" (2023) and the forthcoming "Postfoundational Approaches to Qualitative Inquiry" (2023), highlight her contributions to methodological scholarship and the application of postfoundational, feminist, and poststructural theories.
