معرفی
Alec Christie is a Henslow Research Fellow in the Department of Zoology at the University of Cambridge, affiliated with the Conservation Research Institute (UCCRI) and Conservation Science Group. His work bridges scientific evidence with practical conservation decision-making across global contexts.
Education:
- BSc Hons in Marine Biology, University of St Andrews (2013-2017)
Christie's research pioneers methods to integrate scientific literature with indigenous and local community knowledge for evidence-based conservation. He develops frameworks to assess evidence reliability, relevance, and cross-context generalisability, addressing critical gaps in conservation practice. His PhD applied medical evidence-based principles to biodiversity conservation through the Conservation Evidence project, while his postdoctoral BioRISC work advanced dynamic evidence synthesis for invasive species management via MetaDataset.com.
As Zoocast co-presenter/producer, he actively communicates conservation science to public audiences. His fieldwork spans marine ecosystems (seals, cetaceans, coral reefs) and polar ecology, including Antarctic Peninsula research. Personal pursuits include wildlife photography, moth trapping, and outdoor sports, reflecting his commitment to hands-on ecological engagement.
