Aldo Riello is a Teaching Faculty member at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics (PI), affiliated with the Academic Department's Training, Educational Outreach, and Scientific Programs division. He holds positions as a PSI Fellow since 2022 and has served as a Lecturer and assistant in quantum gravity and gravitational physics courses across multiple academic terms. His teaching includes core and elective modules in the Perimeter Scholars International (PSI) Master’s Program, such as Classical Physics (2024) and Quantum Gravity (2023–2025).
Riello’s research focuses on foundational problems in classical and quantum general relativity, gauge theories, and their phase space geometries. Specific interests include boundary and corner structures in spacetime, asymptotic symmetries, discrete quantum gravity models in 3/4D, and symmetry deformations in field theories. He has held roles including a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (2020–2021) and a Lecturer at the University of Waterloo’s Applied Mathematics department (2019).
His recent work explores topics like Poisson-Lie symmetries in low-dimensional field theories, soft charges in Yang-Mills theories, and renormalization of conformal infinity. Riello frequently presents seminars on quantum gravity, gauge symmetries, and boundary conditions at institutions such as PI and the Centre de Physique Théorique in Marseille.
