Aldo Faisal

Prof. Aldo Faisal is a dual-tenured Professor in Digital Health & Data Science at the University of Bayreuth (Germany) and AI & Neuroscience at Imperial College London (UK, part-time). He leads the Brain and Behaviour Lab, focusing on the intersection of Machine Learning, Neuroscience, and Biomedical Engineering. His work spans neuroprosthetics, wearable health tech, and AI-driven healthcare solutions.

Education: PhD in Computational Neuroscience from the University of Cambridge (2006), postdoc at Cambridge's Computational & Biological Learning Lab (CBL). Early career at Imperial College (2009–present, now part-time).

Research: Specializes in neural information processing, human motor control, and AI applications in healthcare. Developed the UKRI Centre for AI in Healthcare (over 80 researchers). Key projects include wearable motion tracking for neurodegenerative disease monitoring (e.g., Friedreich’s Ataxia) and AI-based clinical decision support systems (e.g., sepsis treatment).
