Aldina Franco is an Associate Professor at the School of Environmental Sciences, University of East Anglia, where she has been employed since February 2009. Her research focuses on conservation biology, animal migration, and climate change impacts on species, with particular expertise in avian ecology and movement patterns.
Her educational background includes a PhD from the University of East Anglia (1999-2003), a Master's in Applied Mathematics to Biological Sciences from Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade Técnica de Lisboa (1997-1999), and a Licenciatura from the Faculty of Sciences, Universidade de Lisboa (1990-1995).
Dr. Franco's research interests center on understanding how species respond to environmental change, particularly focusing on migratory behavior, climate change impacts, and conservation strategies. Her work integrates advanced tracking technologies with ecological modeling to study movement patterns, habitat use, and anthropogenic effects on wildlife. She has made significant contributions to understanding how landfill use affects bird behavior, how warzones impact migration, and how microclimate refugia influence species' responses to climate change.
