Alcira Dueñas is a Professor of History at Ohio State University, specializing in Latin American history with focus on colonialism, cultural studies, and gender. She earned her PhD from Ohio State and BA from Universidad de Bogotá Jorge Tadeo Lozano.
Her research explores power dynamics, indigenous intellectual history, and social agency in colonial Peru, combining methodologies from cultural history and postcolonial theory.
Awards include the Fulbright Scholarship for graduate studies in the United States. She teaches courses on Colonial/Modern Latin America and Women's History.
