His work spans clinical epidemiology, novel diagnostics using non-conventional samples (urine, stool), and the evaluation of new TB vaccines, including mRNA-based platforms. He investigates transmission dynamics in vulnerable populations such as children, people living with HIV, and incarcerated individuals, and evaluates innovative active case-finding strategies in malnourished communities.
His recent publications reflect a strong emphasis on improving TB diagnosis and control through molecular testing, epidemiological modeling, and ethical clinical trial design. Many of his studies are multicentre collaborations across Africa and Europe, published in top journals like The Lancet, Nature Communications, and European Respiratory Journal.
His scientific recognitions include:
- ERC Starting Grant (2023)
- XX Banco Sabadell Foundation Award for Biomedical Research (2025)
- The Union Young Investigator Prize
- Stephen Lawn TB/HIV Leadership Prize
- Early Career Prize from the European Respiratory Society
