Alberto Cavarzere holds the chair of Latin Literature at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Verona, where he has been since 2001. Previously, he served as Full Professor at the University of Trento (1994–2001) and held associate and assistant professor roles at Padua University starting in 1977. He graduated from Padua University in 1970 and has dedicated his career to classical scholarship.

His research focuses on Latin literature, particularly Cicero's epistolary works and oratorical style, Horace's poetry, ancient rhetoric, and the history of philology. He has produced critical editions of Cicero's Familiares and Pro Caelio, commentaries on Horace's Epodes, and studies on Roman oratory. Current projects include a commentary on Quintilian's Institutio Oratoria Book IX.
Publications span annotated editions, scholarly monographs, and essays on topics ranging from Ennius to Ausonius, and include contributions to electronic archives of Italian humanist poetry. His work bridges textual criticism with cultural history, emphasizing intertextuality and rhetorical analysis.
