Alberto Castellini

Alberto Castellini is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Verona, specializing in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. His academic appointments include membership on the Faculty Board of PhD in Computer Science, Computer Science Teaching Committee, Mathematics and Data Science Teaching Committee, and Computer Science Department Council. He currently serves as Chair of the Commissione AQ for the Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence (LM18).

His research interests span multiple domains within AI:

• Intelligent agents and multi-agent systems
• Reinforcement learning and planning under uncertainty
• Supervised, unsupervised, and deep learning
• Explainable artificial intelligence
• Applications in cyber-physical systems, robotics, smart grids, and smart buildings

Castellini leads research in the Artificial Intelligence group and the ISLa - Intelligent Systems Lab, focusing on statistical learning and data analysis for intelligent systems. His current projects include BEHAVE (Learning Safe Behaviours for human-robot cooperation), SINERGHY (Sustainable Energy systems), and SHIELD (Sustainable Logistics through Digital advancements).

His teaching portfolio includes core AI courses such as Natural Language Processing, Planning & Reinforcement Learning, and Statistical Learning across multiple degree programs including the Master's in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.

Castellini actively participates in the international AI community, serving on program committees for major conferences including AAAI, IJCAI, ECAI, AAMAS, UAI, and ICAPS. His publications appear in top-tier journals like Artificial Intelligence, Journal of Artificial Intelligence Research, and IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence.
