Alberto Audenino

Alberto Audenino is a Full Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (DIMEAS) at the Polytechnic University of Turin. He holds multiple leadership positions including Member of the Board of Directors, Member of the Employers' Delegation, and Member of the Interdepartmental Center PolitoBIOMed Lab - Biomedical Engineering Lab. He also serves on the GEDI Observatory for Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and as Scientific Advisor of the Partnership Agreement with VISION.

His research focuses on the development and certification of medical devices, with scientific disciplinary sector in Bioengineering (IBIO-01/A). His research lines include theoretical and experimental studies related to the design of orthopedic, cardiovascular, and dental devices, regenerative medicine and tissue engineering, bioreactor design and development, and non-invasive mechanical ventilation. His work aligns with ERC sectors PE8_13 (Industrial bioengineering) and PE8_7 (Mechanical and manufacturing engineering), and contributes to SDG Goal 3: Good health and well-being.

Professor Audenino's recent publications demonstrate expertise across biomechanics, medical device development, and cardiovascular engineering. His work spans respiratory therapy, spinal biomechanics, vascular stent design, and dental materials, showing a consistent focus on practical medical device applications with strong engineering foundations.

Professor Audenino has supervised numerous PhD students in Bioengineering and Medical-Surgical Sciences, with research spanning cardiovascular engineering, medical innovation, orthopedics, tissue engineering, and biomechanics. He has also served as Scientific Manager for multiple research projects including DIVOC (non-invasive ventilation device), 3DCer4Dent (3D printing for dentistry), and NODES (Industry for Health and Silver Economy). His work involves significant collaboration with healthcare institutions through various non-commercial agreements with local health authorities in Turin.

He leads the research group in Solid and Fluid Biomechanics (DIMEAS) and has been actively involved in doctoral colleges for Bioengineering and Medical-Surgical Sciences at both the Polytechnic University of Turin and the University of Turin since 2003.
