Albert Ward is a DPhil (PhD) candidate in Politics at St Peter's College and the Department of Politics and International Relations (DPIR), University of Oxford. His research focuses on political behaviour and public opinion, particularly the political effects of local attachment. He is also a stipendiary lecturer at Jesus College, teaching Political Sociology, Practice of Politics Prelims, and Comparative Government at the undergraduate level. From August 2024, he will serve as a visiting fellow at Harvard University.
Education includes an MSc in Comparative Government from the London School of Economics. His research interests span political sociology, social/political psychology, electoral behaviour, local politics, and political geography. He has worked in research roles for UK Labour MPs and local government.
Awards include the Black Heart Foundation Scholarship (2021–2024), an Institute for Humane Studies Fellowship (2024), and a research grant from the same institute (2024). His teaching extends to graduate teaching assistant roles for Q-Step labs and tutorials for the Oxford UNIQ summer school. His research employs observational surveys and experiments, with publications including work on EU support and climate policy.
