Albert Merono Penuela

Albert Merono Penuela is a Senior Lecturer in Informatics, actively engaged in interdisciplinary research focusing on knowledge graphs, large language models, and computational linguistics. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to knowledge equity and digital inclusion. He leads or co-leads major projects including RAI4KG (Responsible AI for Knowledge Graphs), MuseIT (cultural technology experiences), and Polifonia (musical heritage digitization).

Research interests span collaborative knowledge engineering, semantic drift analysis in disability discourse, and ethical applications of LLMs in abusive language detection. His recent work critiques static benchmark limitations in evolving language systems.

He has secured funding from EPSRC, TSB, and EU Horizon programs, serving as Principal Investigator in multiple grants. Currently oversees projects funded until December 2025, with notable collaborations extending globally. His contributions bridge technical innovation with societal impact through digital humanities and inclusive technology initiatives.
