Albert Evrard is a Researcher at the University of Namur, Faculty of Law, specializing in Elder Law, European Union Law, and the theological dimensions of aging. His work contributes to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals related to elderly well-being and rights, with 65 research outputs spanning from 1998 to 2023.
His research focuses on interdisciplinary intersections:
- Elder Law: Legal frameworks for elderly rights in EU contexts
- European Union Law: Implementation of directives affecting aging populations
- Gerontology: Social and medical aspects of aging
- Theology: Christian perspectives on elder care and spirituality
- Bioethics: Ethical dilemmas in end-of-life decisions
- Law and Religion: Religious freedom in institutional elder care settings
Recent publications (2013-2023) demonstrate consistent exploration of legal-ethical challenges in aging, including binding advance directives, spiritual activities in nursing homes, asset protection mechanisms, and theological foundations for international elderly rights conventions. His work bridges legal scholarship with practical geriatric care considerations.
Evrard has supervised Raphaël Pagé (2013-2014) and secured multiple research grants including "Older persons in European Union Law and Practice" (2008-2010), "Fondements anthropologiques et théologiques" (2012-2013), and "Séjour résidentiel en maison de repos" (2014, 2017). These projects generated policy recommendations for European elder law frameworks.
He actively collaborates through the Commission Age, Droits, Libertés and maintains academic networks with institutions including University of Toronto, Facultés jésuites de Paris (Centre Sèvres), and Stetson University, where he delivered lectures on aging and law.
