Alan Ryan is a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science & Information Systems at the University of Limerick, affiliated with the Interaction Design Centre. His research focuses on Interaction Design, Educational Technology, and Blended Learning, with particular emphasis on hands-on learning methods and immersive technologies. He holds a PhD (2021) and a Bachelor's in Digital Media Design (2014).
He has received several teaching awards including the Prize Lecturing Excellence Award (2023) and the UL Excellence in Teaching Award (2024). His work explores post-COVID educational models, design pedagogy, and user experience challenges in IoT technologies.
His publications span VR-based learning platforms, tacit problem-solving in design education, and IoT user experience studies. He is actively involved in supervising PhD students in related fields.
