Alan J. Daly is the Chair and Professor in the Department of Education Studies at the University of California, San Diego. He holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of California, Santa Barbara, following earlier degrees in Psychology, Counseling, and Education. His research focuses on social capital, educational leadership, trust within educational systems, and systemic transformation. He has extensive experience in K-12 education and has led programs to improve school district capacity and leadership. His work emphasizes networks, policy, and building strengths-based systems. Notable publications include Social Network Theory and Educational Change and Networked Systems: Learning, Leading, and Leveraging Social Networks. His recent articles explore educational ecosystems, knowledge brokerage, and STEM equity. Daly has collaborated with schools, districts, and universities to advance evidence-based practices. He has presented nationally on conflict mediation, school culture, and accountability structures. His current role as Chair reflects his leadership in advancing education research and policy.
