Alan Gomes is a Professor of Theology at the Talbot School of Theology, Biola University, where he also serves as chairman of the theology department. He holds a Ph.D. from Fuller Theological Seminary, an M.Div. and Th.M. from Talbot, and a B.A. from UC Santa Barbara. His research focuses on systematic and historical theology, particularly the atonement, Socinianism, religious cults, and eschatology.
Dr. Gomes has authored or edited over 20 books, including *40 Questions About Heaven and Hell* (2018) and the 15-volume *Zondervan Guide to Cults and Religious Movements* series. His work critically examines non-Christian movements and reformulates traditional theological doctrines. He has contributed to journals like *Harvard Theological Review* and *Westminster Theological Journal*.
His publications emphasize doctrinal clarity, historical theology, and apologetics, often engaging with controversial figures like Faustus Socinus and movements such as Unitarian Universalism. He has also edited foundational texts like W.G.T. Shedd’s *Dogmatic Theology* (2004).
