Alan Baker

Alan Baker is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Swarthmore College. He held the Andrew W. Mellon Regional Fellowship in the Humanities during 2009–2010 and was affiliated with the Forum on Connections.

His research centers on the philosophical foundations of network science, examining how network models prioritize connections over individual entities. This perspective challenges traditional views of identity in social relationships, biochemical systems, and complex networks, emphasizing patterns of links as defining characteristics.
