Müller's research explores intersections of anthropology of knowledge, Science and Technology Studies, and environmental humanities. He focuses on practical ontologies of 'Nature' through ethnographic research on mountain representations, object-mediated collective formation in subcultures, and materiality in knowledge production. His work bridges STS methodologies with more-than-human ethnography.
Recent publications examine: (1) street workout collectives as quasi-global networks (2025), (2) handmade relief models as ontological interventions (2025), and (3) authority figures in hardcore punk scenes (2024). These works analyze how material practices shape epistemological frameworks across diverse domains.
Scientific Awards

Müller currently leads the 'Nature – Representations – Materialities' research group with Magdalena Bucher and Julian Purrmann. His work on infrastructure maintenance and multi-species ethnography investigates human-nonhuman collaborations through farm road and hiking trail studies.
