Prof. Akram AlFantazi is a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering and Theme Lead (Materials and Chemistry) at the Emirates Nuclear Technology Center (ENTC) at Khalifa University. Previously, he served as Professor at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Founding Co-Director of the Pipeline Integrity Institute (PII), and Associate Dean Research and Graduate Studies.

- B.Sc., Extractive Metallurgical Engineering, Laurentian University (1988)
Research Interests: Focus on corrosion and environmental degradation of materials, electrochemical processes in materials engineering, chemical/extractive metallurgy, and failure analysis. Current projects include computational modeling of HDPE pipe welding, nanoporous oxide layers for corrosion resistance, and sour service casing design.
