Akram Abu-aisheh is a Professor and ECE Graduate Program Director at the University of Hartford's College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture. He holds a PhD in Optical Communications from Florida Institute of Technology and has over 20 years of academic and industrial experience. His research focuses on fiber optic communications, power electronics, and sustainable illumination systems.

Prior to academia, he worked at Tyco Telecommunications (1999-2006), leading optical transmission system development and testing processes. He also founded Sustainable Illumination Systems (2010), commercializing hybrid LED lighting solutions.
