Akif Tahiiev

Akif Tahiiev is a Research Fellow at Goethe-Universität Frankfurt and a research and teaching assistant at the Department of Human Rights and Legal Methodology, Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, Kharkiv, Ukraine. He has previously held research positions at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity (MPI-MMG), the University of Religions and Denominations in Qom, Iran, and has been a Visiting Fellow at Goethe University Frankfurt, the University of Vienna, and the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM), Vienna.

He earned his PhD in Law from Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University with a thesis on Shia Islamic Law and its specifics. His research focuses on Islamic legal traditions, particularly within Shia communities in Europe, and intersects with broader themes of legal pluralism, minority rights, and comparative legal systems.
