Akhil K. Das, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Urology at UCI Health, School of Medicine, University of California, Irvine. He specializes in minimally invasive treatments for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), endoscopic laser surgery, and the management of lower urinary tract dysfunction, including urinary incontinence in both genders.
His clinical and academic expertise centers on Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP), where he is recognized as one of the first surgeons to perform this procedure in the United States. He played a key role in establishing HoLEP as a standard surgical option for BPH, independent of prostate size, and contributed to the development of its CPT coding.
