Dr. Aislin Mushquash serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Lakehead University since August 2017, holding registration as a Clinical Psychologist (C.Psych.). Her academic foundation includes a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Pediatrics from the University of Alberta (2015), Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Dalhousie University (2013), and B.Sc. (Honours) in Psychology from McMaster University (2007).
Her research centers on maladaptive coping mechanisms with specific expertise in substance use, addiction, disordered eating, and health services optimization. Current projects demonstrate strong applied focus: youth mental health app development (March 2025), Indigenous community mental health capacity building (July 2024), and national child mental health trials infrastructure (May 2024).
Dr. Mushquash maintains rigorous teaching commitments across developmental and clinical domains while actively recruiting graduate students, honours thesis candidates, and lab volunteers. Her lab (SN1002E) operates within a framework prioritizing equity, diversity, and inclusion, explicitly valuing lived experience alongside academic metrics in trainee selection. Recent funding from CIHR and other sources supports her translational research agenda focused on real-world mental health interventions.
